Celebrating Rosh Hashana

Apostolic Faith Mission Phomolong, in Kimberley, celebrated Rosh Hashana also known as the the Feast of Trumpets. which marks the new year for the Jewish community. It was celebrated from 18 until the nightfall of 20 September. Rosh Hashanah is a time of family gatherings, special meals and sweet food.

AFM leader, Apostle Patrick Mokwena said that it is very important for the Christian community to partake in these Feasts because they are not Jewish only feasts. “They are a central element to the gospel of the Kingdom of God,” said Mokwena. 

Mokwena stressed that Christians; particularly young people must know and understand how biblical historic events are celebrated.

One of the church members could not contain their joy when he described how blessed the services and the celebration were. “I am really happy to attend today’s celebration of Rosh Hashanah. I want to encourage other Christians to know and read more about the origin of Christianity,” said the overjoyed congregant.

Mokwena said he was happy with the attendance even during a period were the world and the country is battling with the COVID 19 pandemic.
