Ritchie Young Fusion Organisation (RYFO) held its Third Annual Sports Day in July at the Rietvale Sports Ground.

The day was made possible through generous funds donated by two private companies Raumix Aggregates and Ruwacon.

The aim is to get the community to spend the day together.  Skill and talent was displayed through various sporting codes, such as soccer, netball and volleyball.

The soccer tournament comprised of four teams, Ritchie Wolves, Paris Saint Germain, Glamour Boys, and Ritchie Atletico Madrid.

Winnie Ngobeza, a representative from Ruwacon, stated, “this is a way for us to re-invest in the communities that we work from.  It is a pleasure for us to share fun moments with the citizen”.

The match between Ritchie Wolves and Paris Saint Germain, was entertaining.  At the beginning Paris dominated the game and scored the opening goal.  However, Wolves fought back and equalised during the first half and secured themselves a place in finals by scoring the winning goal just before the end of the game.

It was a tough battle between the Glamour Boys and Ritchie Atletico Madrid.  The late secured a 5-4 win through penalties.

An interesting game was between RYFO, committee members and youngsters and The United Saints, a team of pastors from different churches in Ritchie. It was obvious that youngsters have the energy and zeal.

Ritchie Wolves and Ritchie Atletico Madrid made it to the finals. Both teams fought hard, unfortunately there can only be one winner Ritchie Atletico Madrid.

Deon Lawen, coach for Ritchie Wolves FC,said, “I am happy because the games brought the boys’ parents to the field. To appreciate the hard work their kids put in daily.”

The captivating game of netball and volleyball were played by participants from different communities.

All participants received medals at the end of the day.  Prize money and trophies were handed to the winners in different categories.  RYFO was established in 2019, as a non-profit organisation, strives to unite the community and promote the youth.
