Springboks slaughter Romania

The Springboks’ Pool B match against Romania at Stade de Bordeaux stadium in France during last Sunday’s Rugby World Cup was one for the ages.
It was an emphatic statement by the defending champions. The Springboks recorded a thrilling 76-0 win as they tore Romania to shreds in their second tournament match. The Boks’ statement indeed put the rest of the contenders on notice.
The game was one-sided, as Romania had nothing to show for its efforts against a Springboks team, which had a scintillating match. South Africa’s Cobus Reinach and Makazole Mapimpi scored three tries, while Grant Williams scored twice for the Boks.
The South Africans scored their first try within five minutes of play, thanks to Reinach, who led the demolition of the Romanian side. The Springboks had a 33-0 lead at the end of the first half.
The Romanian team had no answers for the Springboks’ game plan and needed help to neutralize their opponents’ style of play.
Dean Fourie opened South Africa’s account within three minutes of the start of the second half. Mapimpi would go on to complete his hat-trick. The Boks finished the game with a flurry of tries, and all that was left was for the referee to blow the final whistle and put Romania out of their misery.
The Springboks are playing well as they head into the latter games of their pool. They will face Ireland on Saturday at Stade de France in Paris at 9 p.m. South African time.
This fixture could not have come at a better time, with the South Africans firing on all cylinders. Both teams have won their first two matches. This clash will decide which team is the leader of Pool B at the end of three games played.
