Sol Plaatje University is pleased to announce that Professor Paul Green will take up the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning, effective 1 August 2024.
Professor Debra Meyer, the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning will become the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Postgraduate Affairs when Professor Green joins Sol Plaatje University.
Professor Green is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Business & Management Sciences at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He is a highly experienced academic leader with 28 years of dedicated service in higher education.
Throughout his career he has demonstrated consistent leadership and managerial acumen in various roles, including Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, Professor, Head of Department, Academic Director, Campus Director, and currently as Dean. These positions allowed him to build a track record of achievement and successful collaboration with colleagues, staff, and students.
He holds a PhD in Systems Thinking from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban), two Master’s degrees, one is an MBA from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg) and the other a MTech in Commercial Administration from the Durban University of Technology. He obtained his undergraduate qualifications in Education & Management at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and the erstwhile University of Natal.
He is passionate about fostering Teaching & Learning excellence, nurturing and developing talent, prudent financial management, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the academic community.
Professor Green is well-versed in the latest developments in e-Learning and successfully implemented innovative systems and approaches within the higher education environment.
SPU is excited that he will join the Senior Management Team and work with them to achieve the institution’s goals of excellence, service provision and sustainability and help to maintain our trajectory to becoming a university of choice for staff and students.
