On 12 December the !xun community in Platfontein celebrated Kulimatci, their heritage day. The event was held outdoors and entertained was provided by multi-generational cultural groups adorned in their traditional clothing made from animal hide and beautiful beading.
Community leaders took the opportunity to provide feedback on developments within the community.
The Deputy Chairperson for Communal Property Association, Nicodemus Saboa announced that 2021 would be a good year as there are projects that will create job opportunities and to stimulate the economy. He stated that there will be three solar plants built, a Caltex Garage next to the main road, where the late Chief DC Mario Kapilolo Mahongo was involved in an accident and a mining prospect. He assured the community that these projects would employ people from both the !xun and Khwe. He introduced Vasco Serneo as the Caretaker for matters relating to farming and cattle.
He applauded Ria Reen, Zokina Fernando, Fanister Moyo and other members from the Khwe and Khomani clan in taking pride in their culture and history by making a financial contribution towards this prestigious event.
