Caring for the community

Neo Entle Orphanage from Tshwaragano, recently held a Charity Market to provide needy families with clothing. The market took place at Five April Park, Galeshewe on 5 December.

According to one of the founders, Lebogang Poss, the organisation was established in July 2019 by two ladies and three gentlemen, all of them are young people living in Tshwaragano.  With the intention of bringing hope to the community. They noticed the high rate of unemployed and the level of poverty in their neighbourhood. Hence the initiative to collect uniforms and clothes to distribute to the community.

To ensure that each and every clothing item goes to the deserving family, clothes are grouped according to gender and age and beneficiaries shop for items of their choice.  This year, the market was open only to people living in Tshwaragano and surrounding areas, however, the organisers intend to include other communities next year.

“It is heartbreaking to see children going to school without shoes because most parents are not working.  The majority depends on Social Service Grants, as a result, they cannot afford to buy uniform and worse, ordinary clothes,” explained Poss.

A beneficiary praise the initiative. “The clothes here are good and clean. They came just in time. It is a blessing to get good quality clothes for the children without paying, for them,” she said while sorting through clothes.

Neo Entle Orphanage’s main aim is to build a home for orphans.  Other objectives are extending their activities to include spiritual upliftment through prayer meetings and counseling sessions, particularly for those who are into drugs.  They request community members to come and volunteer to share the responsibilities.

Poss advised young people to be the beacon of change in their communities and pleaded with the youth to stay away from drugs and alcohol.
