AGW Releases Running Schedule for 2024

Athletics Griqualand West (AGW) announced an action-packed calendar of running events for 2024. It has occasions for all participants and a thrilling lineup of races for seasoned athletes and enthusiastic newcomers. From marathons to community walks, the AGW club’s schedule showcases Kimberley’s scenic beauty and vibrant spirit and some parts of the province.

The calendar kicked off on 3 February 2024 with the Vodacom Meerkat marathon. The next installment on 17 February 2024 is the eagerly anticipated 2 Bridges Half Marathon, a scenic route that will take runners across iconic bridges, offering breathtaking views of the landscape. These events set the tone for a year filled with excitement and camaraderie.

On 24 February 2024, the spotlight shifts to the Sol Plaatje University (SPU) Big Community Walk, a collaborative effort to promote health and wellness within the local community of Kimberley. Participants of all ages are invited to join in this inclusive event, emphasizing the importance of physical activity.

The following month will feature the Diamond Marathon on 2 March 2024. As the year progresses, the AGW club will host various events celebrating athleticism and social causes. Highlights include the Phakamile Mabija Human Rights Half Marathon on 23 March 2024, which honors the legacy of human rights activism in South Africa, and the Kuruman Running Club’s Freedom Run on 27 April 2024.

We begin the winter season with the Kimberley Marathon on 4 May 2024. Throughout the year, the AGW club will also host a series of half marathons, community runs, and themed events, catering to runners of all levels and interests. From the Kimberley Iconic Sites Half Marathon to the KRC Women’s Day Run and the Vulture Conservation Trail Run, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

With each event promising a unique experience and a chance to connect with fellow runners, the AGW club’s 2024 calendar is set to inspire, challenge and unite athletes from near and far. Lace-up your running shoes and get ready to join the excitement!
