Andiswa Bayi (21) made a brief appearance in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court last Monday to face a charge of allegedly kidnapping a new-born baby from a nursery at the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley.
According a SAPS report the baby had gone missing from the hospital nursery on 6 September at about 5pm. An alert for the missing baby had immediately gone out to alert the public.
According to the police the 21 year old female suspect was arrested in Greenpoint suburb two days later on 08 September. The police also recovered the stolen baby including her clothes from the female suspect’s house in Greenpoint. The baby underwent a procedural medical observation and was reunited with her parents.
