Black Boy Adventures thrills Galeshewe with Lifestyle Expo

Television presenter Tumelo Maketekete of DSTV’s “4-Wheel Drive to the Max” show turned up at Galeshewe’s first 4×4 and Outdoor Lifestyle Expo, staged at the local stadium over the Heritage weekend in Kimberley.
This exciting event exhibited overlanding, outdoor lifestyle, and fishing. The managing director of Black Boy Adventures (BBA), Aslam Mxolisi Tawana, said they hoped to host the event annually.
Black Boy Adventures, an outdoor traveling business, is owned by Tawana and his business partner, Nolan Eilerd. The three-day exhibition was the first of its kind in central South Africa. “We’re showing people what Black Boy Adventures does, how we live and enjoy ourselves in the bush,” said Tawana.
On Friday’s first day of the show, BBA provided music, food stalls, popcorn machines, milkshake parlors, and jumping castles for children and guests. At the entrance to the stadium, some Kimberlites were seated under their gazebos while others were selling food and refreshments.
On the stage to the left of the sports field, loud, enjoyable music was blasting from the speakers. Guests were vibing to the sound dished out by local DJs, namely DJ Simba, Mafia, and Emoyeni.
Gleaming 4×4 bakkies exhibited by Isuzu, Nissan, and Toyota surrounded the field. The Emergency Services were also on standby.
Tawana, an outdoor enthusiast born and raised in Galeshewe, established his business in 2020. His inspiration came from his late father, Themba Tawana, aka “Bra Stan,” who introduced him to the outdoor lifestyle at four. As a child, Tawana enjoyed visiting the river with his family for picnics. His love for the outdoors inspired him to study for an agricultural degree, where he graduated from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in Pretoria.
Whenever Tawana went out on over-landing adventures with his family, he shared his posts on social media, which caught the attention of an audience interested in participating in outdoor activities. His establishment now allows locals to expedite during weekends and holidays.
Tawana thanked all the companies and sponsors involved in the expo, including the guests. Northern Cape Tourism contributed to the success of the event.
Black Boy Adventures is on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.
