Church helps in time of need

As the Country and the wold is grappling with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Matsio family in Sediti street Retswelele in Galeshewe was left in the lurch after they have lost everything inside their seven rooms house which burnt to ashes a few weeks ago.
The family representative Puseletso Matsio, a 36-year old woman explains that they do not understand what might have caused the fire, however, they are thankful that during the incident no one was injured. ‘We thank God that no one was injured during the incident even though we were stranded and didn’t know where to go for help.’
Matsio says kind residents in Kimberley and surrounding areas have since come forward to assist with clothing and blankets for the family, but much is still needed to rebuild their house from scratch.
Currently the family is living with with the neighbour who volunteered to assist the family with a place to stay as they struggle to get the necessarily assistance to rebuild their house.
‘’We are still trying even though everything is on a standstill, we need to rebuild the house but we can’t due to financial constraints. We are in a real struggle when it comes to the rebuilding of the house but we are still going around and seeking for help, but I would want to thank the Presbyterian Church in Ipopeng and the entire Galeshewe community for their interventions in giving us donations such as food parcels , clothes and blankets,’’ she says.
The local ward councillor Dolly Mosetsanagape Swazi says she had an engagement with the Sol Plaatje municipality to assist the family however they can not assist the family with the rebuilding of their house because it is a bond.She has also applauded the community of ward nine for their quick response in helping the Matsio family in times of need. “With the help of community members and the Sol Plaatje municipality we were able to assist the family with a temporary structure,I would also like to applaud and thank community members , neighbors and all churches for their assistance” she said.
Pastor Mbhele from the Presbyterian Church says as the church they had to intervene and help the family after hearing about their tragedy on the local Christian community radio station Revival FM. “We heard on Revival FM that there was a family that was seeking assistance after their house burned down, we were able to organize some food parcels for them so that they can at least have something to eat,” said Mbhele.
