FARMERS TO APPLY FOR COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT PROGRAMME AND GRANT FUNDING
Supplied by the Dept of Agriculture
The Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform invites target farmer groups such as the Subsistence, the Smallholder and the Black Commercials to apply for the Comprehensive Agricultural Support and Ilima/Letsema Grant.
The Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (CASP) Grant seeks to provide adequate agricultural support and to streamline the provision of service to the targeted beneficiaries of Land Reform, Restitution and Redistribution as well as other black producers, especially those who have acquired land through private means and engaged in value-adding enterprises domestically or involved in export.
Meanwhile, the Ilima/Letsema Grant strives to assist vulnerable South African farming communities in increasing agricultural production. Thus, farming communities will be able to feed their families and sell the surplus to the market to increase household income.
The type of support provided by the Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (CASP) grant covers the following pillars:
On and off farm infrastructure; Information and knowledge management; Technical; advisory services and regulatory services; Marketing and business development support; Farmer training, skills development and capacity building.
