The Executive Mayor for Francis Baard District Municipality, Cllr Unondumisa Buda, handed over three trucks to the Magareng, Dikgatlong and Sol Plaatje local municipalities.
The trucks were purchased from savings derived during the 2021/22 budget.
To deliver effective and efficient service to the communities, a need analysis was done and purchase was done accordingly. A Tipper truck for Magareng; Skip Loader for Dikgatlong local municipality and a Skip Loader for Sol Plaatje local municipality.
Francis Baard allocated R5m during the adjustment on its operational and capital budget to improve the level of service delivery within the district.
The executive Mayor, said that this contribution from the District Municipality to help the local municipalities in improving waste management within their localities. “This is part of the support and assistance provided by the district municipality to its local municipalities. We believe that our communities will also work together with local municipalities to keep our areas clean and avoid illegal dumping”. She also encouraged residents and businesses to pay their rates and taxes as this will allow municipalities to deliver better services.
