The Kuruman Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit secured a 10 year prisonment sentence, handed down by the Mothibistad Regional Court to 28 year old Thatayaone Abia Sekgantlha Motshegetsi, following the rape of a 26 year old female victim at Lokaleng village, Heuningvlei on Sunday 19 March 2023.
The Court heard that the accused and the victim were walking together from a local tarven when he assaulted and raped her.
The Court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment for rape and instructed that his name be recorded in the National Register for Sex Offenders and declared him unfit to possess a firearm.
Detective Constable Lorato Badukane led the investigation and ensured that justice is served for victims of GBVF.
