Mlab preps Youth For Digital future

Mlab places great importance on driving social and economic impact within the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector and empowering youth to partake in the digital economy, said Facilitator Kabelo Gaotlhaelwe.

MLab is a non-profit organisation (NPO) founded in 2012 in Gauteng and opened for business in Kimberley in the latter part of 2019.

It operates from the Galeshewe SMME village at the corner of Tyala and Hulana streets. The tech startup company focuses on three pillars: The Ecosystem, Technology and Enterprise development.

MLab runs a CodeTribe, a coding programme that provides training and work experience to talented youth in the townships to develop android, IOS, and web solutions.

It is a mobile technology accelerator to support innovative new tech startups and to unlock the digital economy through digital skills development and technology enterprise development,” mentioned Facilitator Henleo Louw.

It is a dedicated space that provides services to entrepreneurs, innovators, web makers, developers, and digital creatives through their different initiatives.

Participants are also up-skilled in cloud technologies, scrum agile project management and other soft skills aimed at helping participants seek an opportunity to start their businesses or seek employment.

Applications are open now on their website www.mlab.co.za/apply for six months software development programmers. The closing date is 20 January 2023.

To qualify, applicants must be between 18 – 35 years old and have an Information Technology (IT) background or an interest in IT by providing evidence of what you have done in the IT space.

MLab has implemented a four-week boot camp for people interested but with no IT background to learn the basics of coding.

After successfully completing the CodeTribe bootcamp, candidates will receive an automated entry and thus be invited for the final interview.

At the end of the six months, there will be a graduation ceremony where graduates will receive certificates.
