NC: APPLICANT SENTENCED FOR SUBMITTING FRAUDULENT MATRIC CERTIFICATE DURING SAPS RECRUITMENT DRIVE

The SAPS Management welcomed the fraud sentence handed down to Keobakile Riet (28) in the Kimberley Magistrates Court recently.
During the 2021/2022 South African Police Service recruitment drive, Riet applied to become a SAPS police official by submitting a fraudulent matric certificate.
Thorough investigation was done by the SAPS Provincial Recruitment office in conjunction with the SAPS Provincial Anti- Corruption unit which led to the apprehension and arrest of the suspect.
He was found guilty and sentenced on 27 September 2023. He received a thousand rand fine (R1000-00) fine or six(6) months imprisonment wholly suspended for three(3) years for fraud.
