NC: POSTMASBURG MORAL REGENERATION PROGRAMME IN CONCLUSION OF 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM FOR NO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN

The South African Police Service in the ZF Mgcawu District concluded the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children with a Moral Regeneration programme in Newtown, Postmasburg on Sunday, 10 December 2023.
The programme was held at the community hall, where different churches and community members were gathered to share a word while addressing issues pertaining to GBVF in the community.
Chaplain Sekopane Mosetle directed the programme where different church leaders came together forming part of Spiritual Crime Prevention.
The Station Commander of Postmasburg, Lieutenant Colonel Gerrit Mouton outlined the purpose of the day and message of the support was delivered by Provincial CPF Acting Secretary Me Helen Jack and the Provincial Youth Crime Prevention Secretary Vusi Nogonyothi.
The District Commissioner, Major General Thabo Mphuthi addressed the community focusing on GBVF. In her speech she indicated that, Postmasburg has been identified as a hotspot area and she is intending to add more boots on the ground in the area.
Maj Gen Mphuthi stated that although the campaign has concluded, GBVF remains a priority therefore, the SAPS continues with the fight against GBVF.
She urged victims to break the silence and to create a safe environment especially for women and children.
She indicated that the SAPS will intensify and accelerate efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women and children during the festive season and limit the space for criminal activities in the district.
Pastor John Tjukunga delivered the sermon of the day from scripture reading 1Samuel 30:1-8.
The different religious leaders engaged in an intercessory prayer and lit candles for HOPE.
