Kimberley-04 December 2023: The Postmasburg Regional Court recently handed down a 12-year direct prison sentence to Sebastian Tebogo Lanks (20) and Ketshapane Olyn (22) for the brutal killing of a 25-year-old male victim on Friday, 30 September 2022.
The court heard that the two accused aided each other by one holding the victim while the other used a knife and stabbed the victim to death.
The meticulous gathering and presentation of evidence by the investigation team ensured the conviction on Monday, 27 November 2023.
The ZFM District Commissioner, Major General Thabo Mphuthi applauded Detective Sergeant Duncan Gwai, Detective Sergeant Christopher Kgomonyane and Detective Sergeant Tefo Makhetha for the thorough and meticulous investigation of the case.
She said that the police encourage constant contact with the communities through sector and community police forums to collectively identify problems and seek appropriate solutions. She stated that the policing of contact crimes will be reinforced during the Festive Season and beyond.
