NEW HUB FOR NCEDA ENTITIES

Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul opened the new home for the Northern Cape Economic Development, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (NCEDA) on 2 May 2024. The new premises are situated in Villiers Street, Kimberley.
In an intimate gathering, Sol Plaatje Municipality Mayor, Kagisho Sonyoni; Abraham Vosloo, MEC of the Department of Economic Development and Tourism and NCEDA employees came to witness this auspicious occasion, one of the many initiatives of the sixth administration to promote unity, efficiency and prosperity and uplift the province amongst others.
NCEDA’s mandate is to assist business enterprises and develop rural areas, focusing on tourism and agriculture by providing funding in respect of approved businesses and promoting foreign trade and investment.
The 900square meters building will house entities such as the Northern Cape Tourism Authority, Mme Re Ka Thusa Trust Fund, Kalahari Kid Corporation and Vehicle White Fleet. Each organisation brings its existing expertise and resources to create a conducive environment for trade and investment.
According to Ali Diteme, Media Liaison Officer for the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, the building will function as a hub for shared services, providing access to resources and support mechanisms under one roof.
The total cost for purchasing and renovation amounted to R12.3 million. ”The initial renovations for the two-story building took two months to complete. The building will accommodate 40 people, said Diteme.
This building is said to be a symbolic and physical showcase of the sixth administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and urban renewal. It symbolizes dedication to providing modern, sustainable spaces that facilitate business growth, foster collaboration and drive productivity.
