Police conducts school safety awareness programme
Cyberbullying is one of the challenges that our society is faced with, especially in the education sector and it contributes to learners dropping out of school, suicide cases and other serious incidents amongst learners.
The police and the Community Police Forum in Lime Acres conducted a School Safety Campaign on Monday, 7 October 2024 at Lime Acres Primary School, enlightening the learners on cyberbullying, respect and general discipline.
The learners were urged to use social media responsibly and to refrain from harassing and embarrassing each other, especially on these platforms. They were encouraged to protect each other as a form of responsibility to enhance the spirit of Ubuntu.
The police explained what constitutes cyberbullying and what the perpetrators will be faced with in terms of the law.
The learners were responsive and participated in the exercise by asking questions and giving inputs on the topics.
