Second suspect arrested in connection with Kathu murder and business robbery

The Kathu SAPS Crime Prevention members followed up on information and arrested the second male suspect in connection with the murder and business robbery incident that took place in Kathu on 08 October 2024 at about 12:45.

It is alleged that two unknown males entered the tuck shop in Seder Avenue in Kathu.

The 31-year-old male tuckshop employee who was alone in the shop, suffered fatal head and body injuries before the suspects allegedly robbed the tuckshop and fled.

The second 41 year old male suspect was arrested at a house in Siyathemba at 20:45 while the first male suspect (20) was traced and arrested an hour after the incident at the dumping  site in Kathu.

Both the suspects are expected to appear in court soon.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola applauded the swift response of the SAPS with the assistance of the community and other roleplayers in apprehending the 2 assailants within hours of the brutal attack.

The investigation continues.
