Seven years in jail for fraud
A man who was accused of fraud and defeating the end of justice was recently sentenced to 7 years imprisonment by the Kimberley regional court.
According to the police spokesperson in the province, Sergio Kock In October 2013 the accused Floyd Teu borrowed a white BMW X6 (valued at R1,3 million) from his business partner, to attend a meeting in Johannesburg. It was found that the accused made a false case of hijacking at Bramley SAPS. Further investigation revealed that Teu sold the vehicle in Tanzania.
Kock further highlighted that the vehicle was recovered in Dar es Salaam in 2018 and repatriated from Tanzania back to South Africa.
“On 23 March 2021, Teu was sentenced in the Kimberley Regional Court to 7 years for Fraud and 7 years for defeating the ends of justice. The sentences will run concurrently.”Kock said
The SAPS Provincial Head for Organized Crime Detectives, Brigadier Dick De Waal commended D/Sgt Andile Africa for his investigation that led to this superb sentencing.
