Sixty-three new vehicles handed over to fight crime in the Province
The Provincial Commisioner for the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Major General Luntu Ngubelanga, Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Corporate Services, Major General Thabo Mphuthi and Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Major General Jacques Raymond handed over 63 new police vehicles to police stations across the province.
The handing over of these vehicles was held on 13 May 2024 at the SAPS K9 unit in Kimberley in the presence of District Commissioners, Provincial Heads and Station Commanders.
Lieutenent General Otola reminded members to utilise the resources responsibly and efficiently and continue to combat crime through decisive police action and robust community involvement in an effort to bolster Operation Shanela and Vala Umgodi.
Fourty Toyota double cab and 23 Isuzu 4×4 double cab bakkies suitable for the working terrain of the province were handed over to the stations.
She reiterated that the SAPS will continue to enhance and improve on reaction time of community complaints and visible policing with the consistent focus on keeping the province safe and secure.
