Sol Plaatje Masters Football League’s Biannual General Council Meeting

Sol Plaatje Masters Football League (SPMFL) held its highly anticipated Biannual General Meeting at AR Abass Hall on 11 February 2024. The meeting marked a significant moment for the League, as stakeholders and members discussed crucial matters shaping the future of Masters football in Kimberley.
The chairperson, Seabata Makhele’s opening address, set the tone. He stated that the past year was fruitful, referring to how smoothly things ran last season. He remarked on the League’s achievements, challenges, and future objectives. Makhele highlighted the importance of unity, integrity, and inclusivity in advancing the SPMFL’s mission.
An essential agenda item was the adoption of the financial report.
After scrutinizing the report, members unanimously adopted the report, underscoring the League’s commitment to sound financial practices.
Another significant aspect of the meeting was accepting new teams as league members.
Including these teams expands the SPMFL’s reach and fosters diversity and competitiveness within the League. The Shooting Stars, Meteors, Coppers, Lerato Park, Born, Opium, Reliance Birds, and Witdam Masters joined SPMFL for the upcoming season.
In line with the constitution a new executive committee was elected. Those who are going to lead SPMFL are Seabata Makhele (Chairperson), Richard Thomas (Deputy Chair), Archie Jack (Secretary), Dimakatso Seele (Deputy Secretary), and Kagisho Kwenampe (Treasure). The Competition Committee Members (CCM) are Mzwandile “Zon” Flatela and Robert Chico Bikwa. The additional members of the committee are Stanley Sentletse and Eugene Vander Merwe.
The League re-elected some candidates. The continuity in the executive committee shows the trust and belief that delegates of the clubs have in this group’s leadership.
The Shooting Stars, Meteors, Coppers, Lerato Park, Born, Opium, Reliance Birds, and Witdam Masters Congratulations to the new executive committee. A great way to start the new year for the League and may it continue to grow and make its mark.
