Two men sentenced for the assault of a teenage boy
Two accused aged 46 and 28 years old, respectively, were both recently sentenced to 3 years direct imprisonment for the severe assault of a 16 year old boy.
On 28 January 2023 at 02:00, the 16 year old male victim had an argument with his mother at their home at Lerato Park, Roodepan, when she ran to the neighbours for help.
The two accused intervened and assaulted the victim with a spade and stabbed him in the head after breaking the windows of the house.
The victim was hospitalized and underwent an operation for his injuries.
Both the accused were subsequently arrested.
They were sentenced as follows in the Kimberley Magistrates Court:
Count 1: Assault with the intent to commit grievous bodily harm(GBH) – 3 years direct imprisonment
Count 2: Malicious damage to property – fined R300-00.
Both were also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
The SAPS lauds the Investigating Officer, D/Cst Noma Senye of the Galeshewe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit for the meticulous investigation that led to the prosecution of the perpetrators.
